Welcome to the Club! Our meetings are held at Christ Community Church on 810 S. Creek in Weleetka, Oklahoma. This location is about 70 miles South of Tulsa and 70 miles East of Oklahoma City. A highlight of our meeting is going to lunch. We walk just a few feet away and go to "The Round-Up" where they serve their famous Chicken Fried Steak - so bring a few extra bucks so you can play with a full belly! Our last meeting on May 17th, 2008 was a real fun time. We shared a lot of licks and heard many a great tune. It is growing all the time too. The people who attend are continually growing also - due to the massive chicken fried steaks we've been having for lunch over at the Round Up Cafe. I personally would like to thank everyone who comes out, we all share a great love for Chet style music and I'm always amazed at the all around great folk who enjoy this kind of style. There is plenty of room where we meet so please - come join us next time. One more thing, CAAS (The Chet Atkins Appreciation Society) has opened up a new website and it's great! You can find it at www.chetsociety.com This chetpicker website promotes learning the styles of Chet Atkins, Merle Travis, and Jerry Reed, it's the main goal of this club. The art and style of fingerstyle guitar covers a wide variety of music styles. We use the styles of Chet, Merle and Jerry as a starting point. Oklahoma has produced some of the biggest names in the music industry along with top professional guitarists in jazz, country, classical, flamenco, bluegrass and blues. More information here. We would like to locate all the fingerstyle guitarists in Oklahoma and surrounding states interested in participating in the club. Everyone is welcome to participate or to just come and listen. Please email a few days ahead to confirm the meeting date. Once in a while a meeting date might be changed to avoid conflicts with other nearby music festivals. Beginners, intermediate and anvanced players are all welcome. Members with their own CD recordings may promote sales through the club. Please, get us an email and let us know, we will provide links to your site. Custom Guitars from Mel McCullough | Al's McCullough Tele Mister Guitar | Gretsch | Tab Software | Transcribe!
